Acadicell Training

A tiered method is being adopted with the lower levels  (Entry and Entry plus modules) dedicated to awareness creation for the wider student or professional communities. The development module provides an enriching hands-on experience, so that trainees comprehend the full potential of the stem cell field. On successful completion of the training course a certificate will be issued by Acadicell under the auspices of CIIC.

Training Modules

ENTRY MODULE (1 day, at Acadicell facility; Fees INR 2500):*

A basic course to create an awareness of human stem cells.

Topics covered:

  • An overview of stem cells
  • Embryonic stem cells
  • Hematopoietic stem cells
  • Mesenchymal stem cells
  • Induced pluripotent stem cells
  • Potential therapeutic applications of stem cells

Practical Sessions / Demonstration:

  • Clean room practices
  • Retrieval of cryopreserved stem cells
  • Mesenchymal stem cell enumeration

ENTRY plus MODULE (3 days; Fees INR 8000):*

An extended course based on in-person classes, observation of stem cell protocols and interactive sessions

Topics will include all those from the Entry module (in greater detail) plus the following:

  • Endometrial stem cells
  • Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation
  • Stem cells and Osteoarthritis
  • Stem cells and cardiac ailments
  • Stem cells and Parkinsonism
  • Stem cells and degenerative eye diseases
  • Stem cells and isolation techniques for hematopoietic stem cells
  • Perspectives for the future

Practical Sessions/Demonstration:

  • Clean room practices
  • Explant cultures of mesenchymal stem cells
  • Retrieval of cryopreserved stem cells
  • Mesenchymal stem cell enumeration
  • Enrichment of hematopoietic stem cells
  • Flow cytometry analysis of stem cells
  • Preparation of human amniotic membrane
  • Isolation of human platelet rich plasma

This module should lead to a better understanding of the potential of stem cells including via the observation of some of the techniques

*Although the content should remain substantially the same, it is quite likely, given the rapidly advancing nature of the field, that some other topics may be included at short notice

Development module (10 days; Fees INR 25000):

Acadicell has set up an industry standard state-of-the-art cell culture facility at the Crescent Innovation and Incubation Council (CIIC) campus in Chennai. The facility includes a spacious class 10000 clean room with top-of-the-line equipment. Our facility also includes molecular biology and cytogenetics laboratories for research projects. Trainees will also be able to access supplementary facilities at CIIC during the training period.

Details of the training module will be mailed to the participants before the commencement of a session. It is envisioned that on completion of this program trainees will be able to:

  • comprehend the huge promise of stem cells
  • understand the intricacies of isolating and expanding stem cell populations
  • recognize the therapeutic potential of stem cells
  • appreciate the enormous opportunities that exist via research or in the healthcare industry
