Industry Standard Stem Cell Training

About Acadicell

Acadicell was established to bridge the gap between the foundational research of academia and the applications-focused requirements of the healthcare industry. It has been conceived and piloted by scientists with expertise in the healthcare industry and supported by  entrepreneurs who value the development and delivery of premium healthcare services. At the heart of the Acadicell concept is the identification of frontier areas for training and research with the latter, potentially, being the fountainhead of innovative healthcare products

Our Goal

Build a healthcare-focused institution that is founded on:

  • the dissemination of information on cutting edge technologies
  • the facilitation of an environment that fosters creativity via research
  • strict adherence to moral and ethical underpinnings

Team

Dr. Ajit Kumar

M.Sc., Ph.D. (Molecular Biology), PDF (Harvard University, USA)

Dr. Ajit Kumar obtained his Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from Madurai-Kamaraj University. He did post-doctoral research at Harvard University, Boston, USA before taking up research and faculty positions at the Children’s hospital in Cincinnati, USA. He has more than 3 decades of stem cell research experience with 15 years in the USA.  Dr. Ajit Kumar was instrumental in guiding the development of innovative protocols for the harvest, expansion and storage of human stem cells at a premier industry R&D facility. His contributions in molecular diagnostics include the establishment of protocols for the prenatal detection of genetic abnormalities. He has conducted numerous Continuing Medical Education (CME) sessions on stem cells in India and the Middle East.

Dr. P. Raghu Babu

M.Sc., PGD (Stem Cell Tech & Tissue Engg.), Ph.D. (Regenerative Medicine)

Dr. P. Raghu Babu obtained his Ph.D. in Regenerative Medicine from the University of Madras and Biomedical Scientist with 14 years of experience in the stem cell industry. He is well versed in the intricacies of processing human stem cell populations from blood and other tissue sources. Further, he has also been involved in the design and development of medical devices that are essential for the isolation of stem cells. He has conducted CMEs on stem cells and on prenatal genetic testing. His tutoring credentials include an international teaching assignment in Ghana. Ingeniously, he has patented the use of coconut fiber as a suture material for wound healing and also has a second patent for a medical device entitled “ A portable blood collection mixer”. He is the only inventor in the country to have two individual inventions, in medicine and engineering. He has been the recipient of grants and awards from the Government of India

Dr. Nithyakalyani Mohan

M.Sc., Ph.D. (Medical Biotechnology)

Dr. Nithyakalyani Mohan obtained her Ph.D. in Medical Biotechnology from the University of Madras. She has extensive experience in stem cell biology and also in cell and organ transplantation with training on islet cell transplantation being obtained from the University of Oxford, UK. She has also worked on potential cell therapies for osteoarthritis using chondrocytes and has been instrumental in establishing the human pancreatic islet transplant program in India. She has been the recipient of grants and awards from both the Government of India and the Government of Tamil Nadu.

Mr. K. Subburaj
